Respecting the environment: a corporate priority
Being an international player in the tanning industry involves great responsibilities towards customers, staff and the environment in general.
Over the years the managers at this company have made increasing investments to adopt solutions aimed at minimising the impact that hides treatment has on the environment and have promoted tangible initiatives with their partners and all their staff.
Such policy has led to implementing water-based finishing processes, building water purification plants and reducing the emissions of carbon dioxide with four 3,100 kW cogeneration plants – corresponding to the electric power of more than 1,000 apartments – simultaneously producing combined heat and power. A totally electric-powered industrial loader – the first in the world – was planned and built to handle the hides: it is now available in all the production plants of the company and is also testament to the attention directed to health protection at work.

Our supplier operates in compliance with the requirements set forth by the UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 standard, in the following fields of application: design and production of finished leathers for furniture, footwear, car and aircraft interiors, leather goods, clothing and accessories through tanning, re-tanning, dyeing and finishing treatments.
The ”Gold LWG Award” recognition is an important award bestowed to our supplier for its good ethical, environmental and safety practice in the processing of hides.
The Award was given to our supplier's Brasil branch by the Leather Working Group.
The Leather Working Group (LWG) is made up of member brands, retailers, product manufacturers, leather manufacturers, chemical suppliers and technical experts that have worked together to develop a environmental stewardship protocol specifically for the leather manufacturing industry.

Blauer Engel, the German government certification, proves the ecological quality of the leathers produced by our supplier. Their leathers are produced with the purpose to minimize their impact on the health and the environment during the production phase as well as in the recycling and disposal phases.
Blauer Engel-certified products further protect the environment and the health of people thanks to a series of tangible benefits:
- lower consumption of water during the various production phases;
- use of raw materials produced in a sustainable fashion;
